Vaccine is currently available to those 16 and older.
On Friday, drug-maker Pfizer requested that the emergency authorization from the Food and Drug Administration for its COVID-19 vaccine be amended to include teens between the ages of 12 and 15.
They reported that a Phase 3 clinical trial in 12-15 year old group found that the vaccine is 100% efficacious with a similar side-effect profile to past study participants between 16 and 25.
The vaccine is currently authorized for people who are at least 16 years old in the U.S. The Food and Drug Administration has not indicated whether or not it will grant the emergency authorization amendment.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the officials at the FDA to have wisdom as they consider the request to include 12 to 15 ear olds in the emergency authorization for the COVID-19 vaccine.
- For discernment for healthcare professionals and Americans regarding receiving the vaccine.
- For students and teachers who could be required to be vaccinated before reopening in the fall.
